Well, I said, I'll have a look into it. So here I am, northeast of Alnwick. I'm stood looking at the ruin of Dunstanburgh Castle, such an imposing ruin resting on a remote headland. You do get magnificent views from the coastline and the imagination wanders inspiring to artists and poets. Well, better get on, I'm here on my own this time to explore and investigate and I'm not sure if I should be here.

It's late evening, clouding over and getting dark. It's already feels spooky but I suppose the atmosphere creates that feeling within oneself. I'm making my way to the castle around the golf course.

...Its took me a bit of time to get to the castle, a few nervous jumps here and there, probably animals moving around in the dark that startled me. It is dark around here now and I've the torch on and a new set of batteries in my pocket. It's a spooky place, perhaps I should have met up with someone for a bit of company. The wind makes it cold, funny how your mind goes into overdrive wondering about silly thoughts, come on, Willoughby, pull yourself together, eh.

...Well I'm stood in the castle and for once I feel really calm. I can hear the ocean waves against the cliffs. Oh! There's the wind, it made me jump. silly isn't it. Well I'll keep my eyes on the space around me while I'll tell you the tale of one of its many ghosts said to haunt this place.

The castle's first lord, The Earl of Lancaster, who built the castle, does apparently walk around the castle. It seems he led a failed rebellion against Edward II, and Thomas, the Earl of Lancaster was sentenced to death for treason. Now it took, if we are to believe this, 11 blows to sever his head with the axe by an inexperienced executioner! It's the ghost of Thomas, Earl of Lancaster carrying his mutilated head that's seen walking amid the ruins of the castle.

Hang on a minute I can see a light coming towards me, an orb? Where's my camera?

"Ye! Assay, what are ye dein here?"
